Despite challenging times in a long and terrible war for all involved on both sides of our borders, ILC-Israel is still active and planning a busy year of activities.
Silvia Perel-Levin, who has for ten years represented ILC Global Alliance at the UN in Geneva, has been appointed president of ILC-Israel. Prof. A. Mark Clarfield who has diligently led ILC Israel during the last few years, will continue his engagement as vice-president.
The Center for Multidisciplinary Research in Ageing (CMRA) in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer-Sheva, where ILC Israel is housed, also has a new elected chairperson, Prof. Vadim Fraifeld, taking over from Prof. Itshak Melzer.
CMRA and ILC Israel continue their interdisciplinary research and other activities. With the help of a grant by the Josef und Luise-Kraft Foundation in Germany, ILC is kicking off a project on Integrating human rights into health and social care in Israel with an international meeting focusing on Age-friendly Cities and Communities (AFCC) in Israel following the WHO framework of AFCC. The meeting will take place on 11-12 February 2025 with the participation of WHO and other members of the ILC GA. We will welcome you all.

An Erasmus+ project led by Elpida, Fundacja Różne Wątki and Leyden Academy on Vitality & Ageing explores gender differences in adult education participation among people aged 60 and older in the Czech Republic, Poland and the Netherlands.

Getting Older Adults Moving at the Right Time
Research by Gali Albalak explored how the timing of physical activity affects sleep, mood and health in adults aged 60 to 80 years with sleep difficulties. The study found that morning exercise was associated with earlier bedtimes, improved mood and higher energy levels.
