NEWS:

Providing elders from remote tribal areas with nutritional food packets of dry foodgrains, cereals, pulses and lentils, every month.

The International Longevity Centre-India (ILC-I) with the support of Gharda Chemicals Ltd, (GCL), has been providing 16 older adults from the remote tribal areas in the state of Maharashtra with monthly, nutritional food packets containing lentils, rice, foodgrains, oil etc,.

This initiative seeks to help the tribal elders who are still working as farm labourers for their survival. They live by themselves in hard to access mountainous regions, and every day is a struggle for existence!

ILC-I’s “Poshan Aahar”( Nutritious Diet) initiative provides these elders with a much better and balanced nutritional diet and helps them live a more qualitative and healthier life.

This initiative has been well-received by the beneficiaries and has given good results too- as can be seen in the increase in their body weights from 300gms to a kilo, nearly every month!

Every month their weights are monitored and documented on their individual health cards. There has also been a marked improvement in their demeanour too- they are more relaxed, happier and more engaged in social activities, as they do not have to worry about their next meal every day

This activity is undertaken in the villages of Chafesar and Kusavli in the sub-district of Maval in the Pune District, the state of Maharashtra.
