ILC-UK launches a new website (UK Jul.07)

On 21 March 2007, the ILC-UK launched its new website. James Lloyd, one of the organisation's senior researchers worked with a leading website development company. The old website had served the organisation well but it was time to develop a new look and to incorporate that with the latest technology available. The site, www.ilcuk.org.uk, was funded by Legal and General, one of the major insurance groups in the UK.

Website Statistics

An important element of the service from the website company is that the site records the number of visitors and their usage of the site. This is accessed via a secure log-in only available to ILC-UK staff.

This enables us to gauge the interest in different topics, and record the number of people downloading reports after publication and in response to other events, such as media commentary. It also gives us information we can provide to sponsors of ILC-UK reports in relation to the exposure for their brand that their sponsorship has secured.

The most useful function of this service is the ability that we now have to track how many times different ILC-UK reports have been downloaded.

ILC-UK Blog

The ILC-UK Blog is regularly being used by researchers.
A number of blog postings have received external comments, and we expect the number of external comments to increase as the profile of the ILC-UK grows.
