
ILC-South Africa
Mission
To understand processes, implications and situations of individual and population ageing in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa (SSA); to help African societies to prepare to accommodate an expanding older population; to enhance the quality of life of older people in African society. ILCSA carries out its mission through research, training, knowledge dissemination for policy development, and advocacy. It views population ageing and longevity positively, and its programmes and activities aim to promote the optimisation of individuals' capacity for active, healthy and productive ageing.

Expansion of Geriatrics Clinical Services and Education Programme.
Dementia and care responses: Improving management, and supporting and empowering informal caregivers.
Prevention of falls in older persons: policy intervention in a developing country.
Policy research to support and empower older caregivers to persons infected with or affected by HIV and AIDS.
Domesticating older persons’ human rights in South Africa.
