ILC Germany is represented by the Munich Center for the Economics of Aging (MEA). Our mission is to research the economic aspects of demographic change. With empirical models, MEA researchers regularly deliver sound scientific advice for economic and social policy. Furthermore, our research encompasses the analysis of macroeconomic performance and societal change in a European and international comparison.
Major funding sources
MEA is a division of the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy and therefore part of the Max Planck Society.
Recent major activities / programs
MEA is organized in three Units for Analytical Research: “Old-Age Provision and Social Policy", "Macro Implications of Demographic Change" and "Health Econometrics". Furthermore, the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE), a multidisciplinary and longitudinal research infrastructure, is located at MEA (www.share-eric.eu).
