"Empowering of the Elderly”- 3 months' Certificate Course (India Dec. 08)
ILC-I has started a new 3 months certificate course in collaboration with the University of Pune- "Empowering of the Elderly”, inaugurated on the 28/12/08 by the Vice Chancellor of the University. The course commenced on the 8th of December 08.
It received 90 applications for 40 seats, mostly from seniors.
The course has 37 participants over 55 with 3 people aged 18 to 30.
The course introduces information on the basic process of the biology of ageing, nutrition, mental & physical health, retirement planning, financial management, safety & legal issues, voluntary services of the elderly and the policies & laws for the elderly.
The course consists of 50 hours, meeting twice a week for three months. The teaching method includes a combination of lectures, field visits, group discussions & power-point presentations a well as lectures by eminent experts in the field of ageing.
